04:33 * McMartin watches people just noticing that Gitlab was hosted on Azure
04:41
<&[R]>
You can self-host it anyways
04:49
<&McMartin>
Always could, but I would estimate the fraction of Github users that actually understand that every person who's ever cloned the repo can duplicate all services of a hub at, oh, 5%
05:09
<&[R]>
How do you guys handle doing dev on multiple systems (eg: desktop and a laptop)?
05:11
<@celticminstrel>
XD
05:12
<@celticminstrel>
So it's true GitLab is something you can just install on a server or something, then?
05:13
<&[R]>
I had it internally for a bit
05:13
<@celticminstrel>
So is it like your own personal GitHub type thing then?
05:13
<&[R]>
Yup
05:14
<@celticminstrel>
I also heard about a seemingly similar thing called "gogs"...
05:14
<&[R]>
https://gogs.io/
05:15
<@celticminstrel>
Yeah that, unlike GitLab it seems to make its role more clear.
05:16
<@celticminstrel>
Slightly funny that it's hosted on GitHub though. :P
05:16
<@celticminstrel>
...oh it's written in Go.
05:16
<&[R]>
https://pagure.io/pagure
05:16
<&[R]>
Pragure is python. Gitlab is ruby.
05:21
<@celticminstrel>
Why does it say "fedora"...
05:22
<&[R]>
Because Red Hat?

Ugh, so I just discovered that the inability to sleep affects the Windows computer too.
05:34
<@celticminstrel>
I tried to hibernate it but it almost immediately started up again.
05:35
<@celticminstrel>
I think that must mean it's something to do with the KVM switch? Unless it could be the devices connected to it.
05:35
<&McMartin>
That does make software issues less likely.
05:35
<&McMartin>
Unrelated: SpaceX launch in 15 minutes or so. http://spacex.com/webcast
05:35
<@celticminstrel>
And I don't have the tablet connected anymore, either.
05:36
<&McMartin>
I vaguely recall the KVM switch was considered a possible culprit last time this came up.
05:36
<@celticminstrel>
I also don't really have time to work it out right now so I guess I'll just have to shut the stupid thing down again so its fans don't keep me awake. ><
05:36
<@celticminstrel>
Yeah, I just hadn't gotten around to testing the theory until now.
05:37
<@celticminstrel>
I should probably try to work on problems like this at the beginning of the weekend instead of the end, huh. >_>

Hmm. The mail guide I'm using tells me to unblock ports
11:21
<@abudhabi>
Well, that might be an issue, because so far as I can tell, the firewall isn't even up.
11:22
<@abudhabi>
I should perhaps see about that.

Well, good news - fail2ban is working :)

<@abudhabi>
But I can't receive it.
11:37
<@TheWatcher>
HAve you set up your MX record?
11:38
<@abudhabi>
Yes, but I'm unsure if I did it right. For what it's worth, the mail system is getting the mail, just rejecting it on grounds that the user doesn't exist.
11:39
<@abudhabi>
The user that I got a mail from and replied to.

With <yourname@domain.com>: unknown user "yourname"
11:53
<@abudhabi>
Hmmm. May be due to listing the domain in both mydestination and virtual_mailbox_domains.
11:56
<@abudhabi>
Sweet, that solved it.
11:57
<@abudhabi>
TheWatcher: Right, OK, what should I do about the iptables thingamajig?
11:57
<@TheWatcher>
Give me a mo, I can give you a script you can mess with to set up a fairly sane set of rules
11:58
<@abudhabi>
Thanks!
12:08
<@TheWatcher>
http://pastebin.starforge.co.uk/21 - that's more or less the one I use on starforge (with a few bits that won't matter to you removed)
12:12
<@TheWatcher>
You just need to run that once (or any time you want to add/remove ports): it adds all the rules, and then saves them at the end, so every time iptables restarts it'll load the rules from there
12:12
<@abudhabi>
OK. I'll see about slamming that together with what the mail guide suggests.
12:20
<@TheWatcher>
Hopefully already be there, as I run postfix+dovecot on there, but there may well be differences.
