<&McMartin>
oh god this stuff is dire
04:01
<&McMartin>
I've always found the old type-in BASIC programs to have a certain amount of charm to them
04:01
<&McMartin>
but this is the Amiga, so we have type-in C programs
04:01
<&McMartin>
Which turns out to cause even the same authors to suddenly forget everything they'd ever demonstrated they knew about program structure...
04:01
<&McMartin>
... but also, it is Glorious Future Year 1986 and C compilers don't even work, not to mention that ANSI C won't be invented for another three years
04:01
<&McMartin>
So the listings are all full of /* MAJOR HACK!!!!! defining too many constants in a row makes the compiler crash the entire system */
04:01
<&McMartin>
int two() { return 2; }
04:02
<&McMartin>
but also yeah K&R C declarations ;_;

Heh. I didn't really get seriously into coding on the amiga until 1990/91 or so. By that point, the compilers had matured a fair bit - I think it was SAS/C I used, and then maybe Storm C... of course, I think by that point the type-in programs had pretty much vanished.

silliness
15:54
<@TheWatcher>
Oh, yeah. Years ago they drained the pond and moved the sculpture onto a concrete area - so obviously it's now fixed-point zero.

that is the saddest trombone
