07:11 | <~Vorntastic> | Today in software release follies, from Factorio: "We, uh… released 1.1.29 without any of the fixes in it. So these are the changes in 1.1.30. 1.1.29 was the same as 1.1.28, except with a different version number." |
07:15 | <&McMartin> | Strictly speaking that is a viable set of changes for a patch release. |

11:29 | <@sshine> | haha. 03:20 PM: Query failed: MySQL server has gone away. -- "This sounds bad, but it's not really." -- 😅 |
11:33 | < catalyst> | uhh x) |
11:34 | <@sshine> | I'm really happy that it's not really that bad that the production database disappears for a few seconds mid-day, haha. |
11:34 | <@sshine> | that'd have been catastrophic in my book, so that's really fortunate. ;) |
11:35 | <@sshine> | (also, I'm in charge of migrating to k8s, so this is hopefully going to be a non-issue.) |

20:29 | <&[R]> | <wolf> http://takeda-toshiya.my.coocan.jp/msdos/index.html anyways link for anyone who is fuckin w/ dos games |
20:29 | <&[R]> | <wolf> This emulator DOES NOT support graphic/sound hardwares and DOES NOT aim to support game softwares. oh |
20:32 | <&McMartin> | dosbox is a mature system at this point if you want to play games |
20:33 | <&[R]> | Yeah |
20:33 | <&McMartin> | It's got its own places where it Will Not Improve Emulation, but tbqh those places are things like "direct block access to devices" |
20:33 | <&McMartin> | If you want those, what you want is something more like qemu |

23:56 | < Yossarian> | Interesting... There is that joke of "Surely, this is the year of the Linux desktop!" or whatever but Linux actually is already good enough if you're not lazy. But some things need better support... what version of Windows got the ability to do IME first, I wonder? There are multiple IME implementations for Linux but I haven't gotten around to trying to get it to work correctly. |
23:56 | < Yossarian> | And I noticed a lot of Japanese computer nerds really like sixel and mlterm, I assume mlterm has something other terms don't have? |
23:57 | < Yossarian> | ah, mlterm - multi lingual terminal |
