Was helping debug someone's code tonight, which was generated trampoline code failing in mysterious ways

Tonight we learned about gcc's function __builtin___clear_cache().

I think we got reverse Spectre'd.

(Oh, and journalctl goes out of its way to set up this behavior. Not by passing command line arguments to less, because that would be too obvious (you might spot it in a ps listing, for example); instead it mangles $LESS to effectively add the '-S' option, among other things.)
10:49
<&[R]>
So not only does it call a sub-process in a completely non-standard way (by changing an environment variable the sub-process sees), it presumably doesn't use the system convention of using the user's pager from $PAGER

Step 1: convert Delaunay to use homogeneous coordinates. Important bits here: homogeneous coordinates use cross product to do two points to line, and dot product to do line siding. It turns out i don't need to care too much about the degenerate line possibility; since crossing to 0 and then dotting with 0 gives 0 and I count on the line as inside, I can just run with it.

yes

<~Vornicus>
preach it

<@gnolam>
BDSM actually stands for "Bondage, Daylight Saving, and Masochism".
20:47
< poxifide>
do you know how many time zones are int the soviet union?
20:47
<@ErikMesoy>
About twelve?

11
20:54
<~Vornicus>
do you actually mean the soviet union

on the other hand, china has one. That must suck in a different way

Vornicus: especially where china borders afghanistan

4 hours time difference across that border

Okay! Step 2: change from the Distant Triangle to the Distant Two-Pointed Triangle
22:10
<@TheWatcher>
Which sounds like a chapter heading in a book on zen buddism

Oh. reason I needed winged edges is because otherwise I'm doing blind neighbor flips and that doesn't work with DTPT, because the state after inserting a single point is two triangles that share two edges
22:59
<~Vornicus>
And winged edge makes it so the neighbor changes are done on one side only, instead of needing both.

23:30 * Vornicus swaps 2 and 3
23:31
<~Vornicus>
Step 2: change from ad hoc triangles-with-neighbors to winged edges. This makes a lot of the work I have disappear: I no longer need to tell neighboring triangles that its neighbors have changed, because the neighbor data is now held on an edge basis

Trick with winged edges is I end up with *different* weird case work. I can pick two directions for the edge and I can do so in two ways.
23:56
<~Vornicus>
but that's a tale for another day, for it is now slep time.
