<@Alek>
once you've got the cards that drop from your games (those that have them), you can once in a blue moon get a booster pack, containing 3 cards for a random game you own. which you can either open, or try to sell by itself - sometimes it's more profitable to sell the pack itself.
01:21
<@Alek>
it is so because a pack can randomly contain a foil card, which is more valuable.
01:21
<@Alek>
you can also randomly get a foil instead of regular from the basic game drops, too.
01:22
<@celticminstrel>
I got one of those.
01:23
<@Alek>
they add up to a DIFFERENT badge for the same game.
01:24
<@Alek>
they're also much rarer.
01:24
<@Alek>
so usually you'll just want to sell it. it'll bring in nice cash you can buy several regular cards with.
01:25
<@Alek>
but it's up to you, really.
01:28
<@celticminstrel>
That's what I did just now. It went pretty fast, too.
01:36
<@Alek>
they often do. especially around special events.
01:37
<&McMartin>
There's something wonky with the RNGs though
01:37
<&McMartin>
I've never seen a foil, but I've been getting boost packs left and right
01:38
<@Alek>
I've gotten one foil, and 3 or 4 boosters, since the trading cards debuted.
01:38
<@Alek>
the thing is, foils are uber rare. boosters aren't as rare, once you've gotten cards for all the games you own.
01:39
<@Alek>
and as long as you keep signed in and open the client at least once a week.
01:40
<@celticminstrel>
I keep the client open and signed in at all times.
01:40
<@celticminstrel>
Except when connection fails and the client doesn't reconnect afterwards, I guess.
01:41
<@Alek>
I keep it signed in, but only open it every once in a while.
01:42
<@celticminstrel>
I think that's only possible in Windows, I'm generally signed in on Mac.

"People complain that the collision detection is bad. But it's pixel-perfect! That's good! It's just that users don't expect pixel-perfect collision detection."
22:43
<&Derakon>
So the author is technically correct that this isn't a bug. It's a misfeature. Both need to be fixed.
